Mortlach Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collaborates with Felicia Ferrone on Speciality Glassware for Mortlach by Design Program
Mortlach Single Malt Scotch Whisky, has partnered with Felicia Ferrone on Cowie, an audacious and unique drinking vessel that mirrors the complexity of Mortlach Whisky. The Cowie glass was unveiled in New York City in collaboration with the launch of The Blend, a weekly newsletter from future plc that hand-picks some of the most fabulous and fascinating stories from top publications covering the best in design, fashion, art, food and drink, technology and more. Ferrone’s Cowie is the latest release from the Mortlach by Design program, a series of bespoke products from some of the best designers today, all culminating in the ultimate whisky experience.
Cowie has a singular dedicated purpose: to be used for an experiential tasting of Mortlach whisky. The product’s namesake is a pioneer of Mortlach, George Cowie, a former engineer who took full ownership of the distillery in 1867. Matching the high level of craftsmanship that goes into the Mortlach’s precise distillation process, Ferrone designed Cowie to be incredibly intricate, composed of two volumes, a ring shape where the whisky is poured and the central open, tube-like stem which creates an inner void in the body of the glass. This allows for a unique tasting experience, where the width of the glass allows for the notes of Mortlach to swirl while still remaining inside the glass when tipped.
