Ini Archibong unveils design work with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg on Gin and Juice
California born designer Ini Archibong has unveiled his latest work on Gin and Juice, the first ready to drink product from the new premium spirits company from Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. The debut of the luxury spirits venture taps into the cultural influence of the two musical giants, and Archibong’s design work brings that spirit to life through the packaging that is symbolic to the brand. For this project, LA raised Archibong brings his boundary-blurring creative spirit, tapping into inspirations across design, art, music, and culture, to create a differentiated look and feel for Gin and Juice. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Snoop's debut album, Doggystyle, produced by Dr. Dre, the canned beverage is named, of course, for Snoop's beloved, Grammy-nominated song "Gin & Juice," and comes in four flavours: Citrus, Melon, Passionfruit, and Apricot. Each of the four flavours comes with a distinct design and creative vision.
The packaging incorporates the iconic “Parental Advisory, Explicit Content” iconography, selected by Archibong as emblematic of the era of the song’s release. The accompanying classic lowrider, hand drawn by artist and illustrator Wayne Johnson and coordinating with the flavour by colour, is contrasted with the white background to showcase the design of the car as if it were being displayed in a gallery or museum.
This is now available to purchase in the US and UK, and around Europe in select stores.
