Lauren is an Artist, Curator, Gallery Owner, and Art Consultant based in London, England and San Diego, California. She collaborates with emerging artists and organizations to enhance everyday experiences with artistic interventions. She specializes in creating custom Arts programs for museums, hotels, property groups, and shopping centers. Her curatorial projects and Arts programs feature artists working in painting, photography, digital, video, performance, sculpture and installation. Lauren aims to strengthen the ties between the Arts community and local businesses in an effort to provide a platform for diverse voices and spaces for critical thinking. In 2011 she opened up 1805 Gallery an art studio and gallery space for artist residencies and contemporary art exhibitions in San Diego. In between exhibitions, the space also served as her personal art studio where she explored sociological, philosophical, and scientific concepts through painting, drawing and sculpture. For now she is continuing her art practice and curatorial projects in her London based home studio.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?: I could imagine an entire utopia but for now I am leaning towards simplicity. Waking up to a quiet house, opening up the curtains to let in the morning sunlight and fresh chilled air before diving into a good book.
Which living person do you most admire?: People that are completely and unapologetically themselves. Individuals who laugh from their bellies and embrace their flaws as assets.
What is your greatest extravagance?: Indulgent meals. The best meals have the power to teleport you to distant memories and favorite places.
What is your current state of mind?: I am feeling hopeful fo many reasons. Despite the insanity that was 2020, a lot of critical conversations are happening now that never took place before the pandemic.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse?: Are you hungry?, 100%, Amazing, It’s all about the process!
Which talent would you most like to have?: Public speaking. I would love to be able to articulate my thoughts on the spot in front of a crowd without freezing.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?: I would improve my focus. I have so many big ideas rapidly popping up in my mind so it would be helpful to have laser focus on command.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?: My ability to bring ideas to life and to accomplish the goals I’ve set for myself. I am so grateful for the privilege of having an incredible education and a family that encouraged me to approach everything with intense passion and confidence.
Where would you most like to live?: Somewhere with lots of trees, sunshine, clean ocean air and an endless horizon.
What is your favorite occupation?: Working in the arts has been very rewarding in terms of exploring ideas in unconventional artistic ways. I think the Arts offers a unique perspective when looking at history and current issues that need to be addressed.
What is your most marked characteristic?: Intense Hospitality. I tend to pleasantly overwhelm my houseguests with outrageous amounts of food.
What do you most value in your friends?: My friends are easy-going, dedicated to helping others, and typically have a weird sense of humor.
