Jose Roda (1987) is an illustrator based in Barcelona. His aim is to tell stories through drawing. He draws for campaigns, products, press, media and to share his own views and experience of living on this planet. He tries to keep his work nice, kind and simple and believes in doing things with passion and for social justice. He is also a firm believe in the power of karaoke.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?: Croquetas de jamón, my boyfriend, kind temperatures, and the beach. Mix them in the way you want.

Which living person do you most admire?: Anyone who works for a better world, does things for the others, speaks loud and fights. Especially those that by origin or condition don't have it easy.

What is your greatest extravagance?: My biggest extravagance would be that I'm addicted to the hair dryer. I like to put it on and enjoy the warm air on me while I read, draw or write... I know, that's not good...

What is your current state of mind?: 2020 waning moon.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?: "Yasmamawerk" and "Uhhhchild". I've been obsesed with drag culture for years.

Which talent would you most like to have?: Singing, please, singing.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?: I guess I would say my back. It's always hurting.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?: Making a living from drawing and having worked for the Barcelona City Council (my hometown).

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?: Totally a plant, no doubt. Not very into humans lately. I want to be a plant on a balcony with sun and nice views.

Where would you most like to live?: I can’t wait to move somewhere surrounded by nature, perhaps a small village near the sea with just few people around, and lots of trees, landscapes and colors.

What is your most treasured possession?: My emotions.

What is your favorite occupation?: Eating.

What do you most value in your friends?: Their heart.

Who are your favorite writers?: So many! Lately I’ve been obsessed with Emmanuel Carrère, Agustín Gómez Arcos and Camila Sosa Villada.

Who is your hero of fiction?: Very difficult… Let’s say that I wouldn't complain if I end up being Mr. Dinkles from Trolls. I’m cool with that.

What is it that you most dislike?: Fascists, cowards, narrow minded and mean humans.

What is your greatest regret?: I had the chance to study abroad in college and I declined because of love (we broke up soon after). So… mhe. For the readers, just leave your boyfriend and improve your English if you have the chance, ok?
