Studio Umut Yamac is an award winning design studio based in East London. Operating between the worlds of art and design, the studio creates objects and installations that explore the middle ground between architecture and light. The studio is centred around the workshop where ideas are born, developed and tested though experiments, models and prototypes. Projects range from collaborations with leading furniture and lighting brands to gallery pieces and bespoke commissions, and often explore the use of playful interaction and movement to create a dialogue with the user and the space.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?: Every finished project is an achievement

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?: A cat or a giraffe

Where would you most like to live?: I'm happy in London

What is your most treasured possession?: My (small) collection of screenprints

What do you most value in your friends?: Not taking me and each other too seriously

Who are your favorite writers?: George Perec really changed the way I think about writing. Italo Calvino is magical.
