Huntsman Savile Row Announces Design Your Own Tweed Competition
Renowned Savile Row tailor H. Huntsman & Sons launches their annual Design Your Own Tweed Competition, which offers the opportunity for the public to design their own custom pattern. Huntsman hopes the creative process of designing a signature pattern will bring families and communities together, finding a moment of joy and stress relief. The winning submission will be placed into the illustrious Huntsman archive and the winner will receive two pairs of Huntsman’s bespoke slippers in their custom cloth.
The competition, now in its third edition, has in the past drawn over 400 entries from participants across the globe. Previous winner, Nebraska native Mark Lorenzen designed a beautiful hound’s tooth pattern in muted greens and greys, inspired by Scottish landscapes, the nuances of which fondly reminded Huntsman's Creative Director Campbell Carey of highland flora and fauna.
A sample of the winning design will be woven in-house at Huntsman, using the only working handloom on Savile Row. The Huntsman tailors will fine-tune the colours for the initial swatch to be realised and perfected. It will be sent to Huntsman’s partner family-run mill in Scotland to be fully produced, uniquely registered within the Huntsman tweed archives and crafted into the winner’s bespoke slippers.
