Prima & Ultima Fourth Relase
Diageo Luxury launched The Prima & Ultima 4th Edition Launch at the iconic The Morgan Library in New York City
Hand-selected from some of the finest distilleries in Scotland, the esteemed anthology of rare and collectible vintage Single Malt Scotch Whiskies from Diageo boasts the oldest ever whisky to come from Talisker Distillery, the forgotten last casks from The Singleton of Dufftown in 1985 and the last ever 1997 Lagavulin.
Each whisky from the collection holds a story of a first and a last of its kind, a theme that was mirrored with the spectacular venue as guests dined in a setting surrounded by important historic books, many firsts and lasts of their kind. Guests not only discovered history through the whiskies but were treated to a fascinating talk by Dr. Jesse Erickson, The Morgan Library and Museum Curator, who presented a very rare showcase of The Gutenberg Bible, the first book printed in Europe and the most expensive printed book ever sold. Dr. Jesse Erickson also shared ‘Poems on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral’ a collection of poems by Phillis Wheatley, which was the first published book by a Black woman and the beginning of African American literature, written during a time when literacy was illegal for enslaved Black people in many Southern states.
The collection presents the chance to build one of the rarest and most exceptional liquid libraries in the world and is the first time that the full collection is available for sale in the USA. Guests were delighted to be guided through this unique offering by Diageo Luxury Ambassador Ewan Morgan, tasting exceptional whiskies from pioneering experiments as well as the dwindling remains of long-lost ghost distilleries.
